    Georgia May

Photographer, Georgia May, comes from a western heritage. Raised in Golden, Colorado she attended Colorado State University in the 70′s and studied Animal Science and Agricultural Journalism. While at CSU, a good friend, Vickie Powell, convinced her that the two of them should become rodeo photographers. After some good natured speculation, the two students went to Waxman Camera in Denver and bought identical sets of darkroom equipment. They jumped into the college rodeo scene with both feet and were hooked. This was in the days of film and most of the work was done in black and white and required extensive time in the darkroom. 100 ft bulk rolls of film were the norm and Georgia rolled film and developed all of the work herself in a fifth wheel trailer that doubled as a darkroom. In the early 70′s she obtained an official press card from the Rodeo Cowboys Association (prior to the PRCA) and traveled primarily Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Arizona shooting RCA, college, amateur and junior rodeos, as well as 10 head team ropings, county fairs and more. Georgia has ridden from the age of nine, gathered and branded, team roped as a heeler, tried to cut and is interested in the cowhorse event. Hey, it’s fun out there!

    Tina Dixon

Growing up in a ranching family, Tina enjoys all aspects of the western lifestyle. Going down the road to rodeos shooting pictures has also been a large part of her life. Tina is a big believer in family, friends and faith so it seemed only natural to partner with her very talented mother, Georgia, load the camera bags and reunite with the rodeo family once again. You may find her behind a camera but more likely set up with the computer, making new friends and taking orders.

Tina and her lovely family, husband, Yates and children, Grace and Merrick, call Prescott, Arizona home. This “cowboy capital” offers everything they love—western heritage, great people, charm and character. When they aren’t on the road, they stay very busy ranching, home schooling and gardening.

Tina has learned that many hands make light work and she believes that life is much more enjoyable when you are doing what you love with who you love. Much has changed in the decades since Georgia made her start in photography, but one thing remains the same, moments matter and this mother-daughter team want to capture yours.

Please look for May Out West on the road or give them a call if they can be of assistance. Tina and her family enjoy meeting new friends and would love to put their experience to work for you. Until then, take care, good luck and God bless America, you and yours!
